Bloomsburg Track Wraps Up Action At PSAC Championships

EAST STROUDSBURG - The Bloomsburg University track and field team wrapped up action at the 2007 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Indoor Track and Field Championships on Sunday afternoon in East Stroudsburg.

Overall, the Huskies had five podium finishes. Amber Hackenberg (Middleburg/Middleburg) and Beth Schwing (Hershey/Lower Dauphin) led the Huskies placing in the top eight in two events each. Hackenberg took third place in the 5K event to earn All-PSAC honors and later took fifth place in the 3,000-meters in a time of 10:27.47. Also earning two podium finishes, Schwing took fourth in the 5,000 and eighth in the 3K in 10:31.08.

In the women's long jump, Connie Rainieri (Gilbertville/Saint Pius X) took ninth place with a jump of 17' 3/4".

On the men's side, Justin Shepherd (Cranberry Twp./Seneca Valley) earned a spot on the podium in the 5,000-meters. He took sixth place in a time of 15:01.08, a lifetime personal record. In the men's mile run, Mike Dalton (Lake Hopatcong, NJ/Pope John XXIII) took tenth place in 4:26.44, barely missing a podium finish.

Rounding out day two action for the Huskies, Dan Tallerico (Pittsburgh/North Hills) took 19th in the men's 800-meters.

Bloomsburg will begin the outdoor portion of the track and field schedule on March 17 competing in the Radford Invitational.
